Wild about Latics

Oldham Athletic Community Trust wants 15 volunteers to sign up for the trip of a lifetime — to Kenya.

Latics want Oldhamers to jet out to Africa on a mission to help with sports coaching, teaching in schools and community work with children during a 10-day trip in June, 2012.

As part of the adventure, volunteers will aim to raise funds for the trust’s programme which delivers a range of activities across Oldham.

The trip includes a fantastic game drive in Lake Nakuru National Park, a trip to the Earth’s equator and a stop-off at Thomson Falls.

Individuals are asked to raise around £1,995 in order to participate in the event, £812.50 (after Gift Aid) of which is donated directly to the trust. The remaining amount covers the cost of the trip.

To support participants’ fundraising, the trust will hold a series of events, alongside activities that will be celebrating 25 years of the Boundary Park side’s community scheme.

Colin Moore, Oldham Athletic community manager, said: “This is a great opportunity for the people of Oldham to get involved in a life-changing adventure across the world.

“Supporting those less fortunate and using the skills we have offer a better quality life for those we come in contact with.

“I urge anyone who has the skills needed to get in touch and come to the open evening on September 15.”
