Skydive stunt pair’s teeth are chattering!

AN OLDHAM dental manager is experiencing terrifying drills himself — as he goes through training in preparation for a daredevil skydive.

Andrew Gardner is going head to head with colleague Claire Stevens in the adrenaline-filled adventure, with the one raising the most funds getting to push the other one out of the plane!

Andrew is the assistant directorate manager of Manchester University Dental Hospital and will be collecting sponsorship for the hospital from the stunt on Saturday.

He has signed up to take on the challenge of a tandem skydive from over a mile up in the air at Black Knights Airfield in Cockerham, Lancashire, with Paediatric Dental Consultant Claire Stevens.

Money raised will go towards providing a dedicated paediatric radiology suite, which will cost £100,000 and would mean that children could receive radiology scans in a more child-friendly environment, helping them to relax and making their experience at the hospital better.

The fundraising will also go towards improving the environment for patients being treated in the Department of Child Dental Health at the hospital through supporting artwork projects.

Brave Andrew said: “I’m not too keen on heights — in fact I’m terrified, but jumping out of a plane for our charity will be worth it. I see and hear on a daily basis about the great work that goes on at our hospital, so I’m looking forward to being able to contribute to making it even better.”

Claire added: “The Department of Child Dental Health sees children from across the region requiring specialist dental care.

“I’m doing this skydive to help to provide a dedicated place for children to receive radiology scans and also to make the unit more child-friendly.”
