Sharon struggles to find any hair to cut on Big Al, the Revolution Radio presenter who officially opened her new salon

FOR more than 20 years Sharon Ruscillo has been a barber to men from all over Oldham.

Now she is finally going it alone, having invested £18,000 on premises in Royton Post Office to open Royton Barbers.

“I was at a ladies’ hairdresser for four years but I didn’t like the people I worked for, so I took up cutting men’s hair instead,” she told me.

Sharon, who lives in Royton, is convinced she can make a go of self-employment, having worked freelance for many years around Oldham.

“Location is the key, no question, and I think this is just perfect,” she said. Sharon has opted for luxury in her salon, acquiring four top-of-the-range Italian salon chairs.

She has also invested in disabled facilities and there is also a baby-changing unit in the spacious premises in Rochdale Road, previously part of the adjoining post office.
