Victoria Shaw is giving something back to the hospital helping her granddaughter
A GRANDMOTHER is holding a family fun day to thank the hospital which is providing 24-hour care for her poorly granddaughter.
Victoria Shaw (43) from Mossley, hopes to raise as much cash as possible for medical equipment for babies at St Mary’s Hospital in Manchester.
Her granddaughter, four-week-old Millie Moran, was cared for on the newborn intensive care unit after being born with spina bifida and hydrocephalus — water on the brain.
She was then transferred to the children’ hospital on the same site.
As a thank-you for all the care and treatment that she has received so far, her gran has decided to organise a community fun day at her workplace — Housing 21 in Grotton.
Mrs Shaw said: “My son Michael (25) and his girl friend Emma (25), have had one-on-one support for the entire time — the staff are superb.
“Millie is quite poorly as she has an 8cm gap in her spine and needs an operation. She’s in the isolation ward but she’s doing really well.
“At Housing 21, we’re encouraged to take part in community events and I thought what better than to give something back to the nurses and doctors who have helped us.”
Starting at noon on Saturday, guests will be able to enjoy a variety of stalls including jewellery, home bake, and bric-a-brac, as well as novelty bingo.
For the children there will be enjoy hook-a-duck, a bouncy castle, face painting and much more.
The event takes place between noon and 3pm.
