A LOLLIPOP woman was struck by a pick-up truck in front of families on their way to school.

It is believed the 52-year-old was waving people across Abbeyhills Road, Alt, when when the accident happened.

Emergency services were called to the scene at 8.20am yesterday, just before school began at nearby Alt Primary School.

The school’s head teacher, Robert Jackson, said: “We don’t know too many details, but she was conscious after the incident.

“It’s a very busy junction where she is and just shows the importance of the job she does. She is considered with high regard here and we hope she makes a quick recovery.”

Police are not treating the incident as a crime.

A Greater Manchester Police spokesman said: “The 52-year-old was taken to Royal Oldham Hospital for treatment to minor arm and hip injuries.”
