A COLLECTION of paintings by renowned Lees-born artist Helen Bradley are expected to raise thousands when they go up for auction.
The works are being offered by Lake District-based 1818 Auctioneers in its autumn catalogue as part of the estate of a local art collector.
The two-day auction will be held at the company’s Kendal salesroom on September 20 and 21.
They include a watercolour entitled “April — Grandpa went to see a farmer at Fell Foot”, which was featured in Bradley’s first book “And Miss Carter wore Pink” and bears her famous fly monogram. The painting is expected to fetch between £15,000 and £25,000.
Other works include an oil on board depicting the Cartmel Valley in the evening, estimated at £1,200-£1,800, and two small more affordable paintings of the Lake District expected to fetch about £200 each. Numerous prints and books are also included in the sale.
