PROUD winner: Danny Callan whose business has gone from strength to strength
BUDDING entrepreneurs have got the chance to showcase their skills and emulate the success of local student Danny Callan.
Danny was crowned winner of last year’s Professional Manchester Innovation Challenge, and now the competition is back.
Danny (18) was victorious despite the hinderance — or so he thought — of being dyslexic and the youngest entrant.
The competition sees entrants take part in a series of challenges around the various essential business themes of adaptability, creativity and persuasion, as well as high-pressure question and answer sessions — all designed to recognise innovative flair.
The various challenges are developed by a judging panel, which include Mike Ryan, director of Manchester Digital, a leading technology company, and Imran Hakim, the inventor of the I-Teddy, popularised by his appearance on TV show “Dragon’s Den”.
Since winning the challenge last year, former Saddleworth High School student Danny’s web design business, “Ice Box Design” has gone from strength to strength.
Danny will be at competiton’s launch at Manchester’s Museum of Science and Industry on Wednesday.
