SPORTING stars showed their finesse at Saddleworth School during the village Olympics.
The successful event, now in its second week, has proved a tour de force this year as hundreds of children have taken part in a wealth of events.
This time it was the turn of netball teams to step up during the tournament at Saddleworth School. The LGFG (Lydgate, Grotton, Friezland & Grasscroft) team romped to victory in the 15-16-year-old category over Springhead, Austerlands & Scouthead.
Delph & Denshaw were victorious in the 12-14 section, with Uppermill finishing runners-up. Organiser Steve Bradley said: “All the children have really got into the spirit, it’s competitive during the games but they’re all hugging each other after with big smiles on their faces.”
Badminton will take up Thursday and Friday at the school, while a closing ceremony will mark the end of the 26th games after football on Sunday.
