NEW era... for Kian Miller and Megan Cartwright at Oasis Academy in Limeside.
A DAY of fun and laughter welcomed in a new era at an Oldham primary school.
The former Limeside Primary School staged a playground party with a steam-train ride, bouncy castles and face-painting to usher in a new dawn as an Oasis Academy.
Teachers, youngsters and members of the community joined in jubilation to mark the school becoming the first primary in the borough to secure academy status.
Oasis founder Steve Chalke was there on the day. He said: “We are delighted about working with students and parents at our newest academy.
“Working alongside some of the excellent projects and services that already exist locally, our vision is to build a safe and outstanding community where people feel included, happy and proud to live, learn and work together.”
Dozens of balloons were released as energetic zumba sessions, a mini-disco and drama workshops boosted the party atmosphere.
