POSTMAN’S cat: Jess with Royal Mail collection network manager Debbie Lees.
WHEN a stray cat made herself at home at Oldham’s Royal Mail delivery office she was only going to be given one name.
Now staff are trying to find the owner of Jess — named after Postman Pat’s famous cat.
The young tabby does not share the famous cartoon character’s colouring but does has a fondness for postal workers.
She first turned up at the Hamilton Street depot last week and makes a beeline for the traffic office as soon as it opens at 5am.
Collection network manager Debbie Lees puts her out at 8.30pm when she finishes work, but Jess is soon back for the night shift at 10pm.
Staff are feeding the well-groomed moggie who is thought to be a house cat.
She has not been been chipped and Debbie said: “All the lads have been looking after her but we do not want her to get too settled because it is dangerous will all the vans.”
Anyone who know where Jess lives should contact the depot on 0161-785 3009.
