City star Carlos Tevez avoided photographers by pleading guilty to speeding charge through his solicitor yesterday.
Lawyer Gwyn Lewis told Oldham Magistrates that Tevez (27) hadn’t seen the original notice as he didn’t open his own mail and had very poor English.
“If the matter had been responded to at the time it would have resulted in a speed-awareness course,”Mr Lewis suggested.
“Because there was no response it wasn’t offered and can’t be retrospectively offered. This is a very straightforward case. It’s a shame it wasn’t dealt with earlier.”
The Argentinian star, who allegedly earns in excess of £250,000 a week after tax, must pay a fine of £60 plus £50 costs. His licence will be endorsed with three penalty points.
The original charge as one of failing to give the identity of the driver of his Bentley Continental GT, when it was flashed doing 38mph on the A56 Chester Road — a 30mph limit, on November 13.
The charge was amended in court.
