THRILLED leaders at Waterhead Rugby League Club have been handed a ground-saving donation.

The Saddleworth Round Table has handed over a £4,250 cheque to the Peach Road club, to make vital improvements.

Using the money — raised during the Saddleworth Beer Walk in June — the club has installed a new security gate and is even considering investing in a new training pitch.

Peter Wood, a member of the Round Table, said: “It’s more than just a rugby club, it keeps children off the streets. “It’s a real community hub and it does a lot for the local area.”
