ELEVEN charges of harassment: Graham Turner.
Lewd messages sent daily to Oldham mum
A PERVERT who sent 4,000 sexual texts to different women — including an Oldham mum — could face a prison sentence.
Graham Henry Frederick Turner (31) admitted 11 charges of harassment against different women and one charge under the telecommunications act at Oldham Magistrates’ Court yesterday.
Turner stalked women who advertised children’s goods for sale on Loot and ebay. He sent the Oldham mum, who does not wish to be named, daily obscenities regarding her two-year-old daughter — including that liked her daughter’s pink dress and knickers.
At first the texts were of a friendly and enquiring nature, but quickly turned offensive when she told Turner, who works in telesales for the Bank of America, the cot had been sold.
Julie Spaven, prosecuting, told the court how in most of the texts Turner pretended to be a woman and even claimed he was a doctor, offering to examine one of the complainant’s children.
She said when he was interviewed, Turner, of Fairview Avenue, Wallasey, admitted sending messages while performing a sex act on himself.
She added: “He accepts he has a problem with his behaviour and that he is confused about his sexuality, had an interest in children and said he needed help.”
Chris Fallows, defending, said Turner had not abused his position in the bank as he obtained the women’s addresses via online adverts.
District judge Jonathan Taaffe said: “These are matters in which people have suffered untold distress caused by an unknown person at the end of a phone, requesting intimate details.
“The court will have to view the matter seriously.”
He said a sentence of punishment and rehabilitation was likely, but asked for a psychological report to be prepared in October.
The Oldham mum, who had been staying with family for fear of returning home, said she was pleased he would be sentenced.
“I hope he gets what he deserves,” she said.
“The amount of harassment he has caused to me and many other women across the North-West is disgusting.
“It’s just sad that I had to contact the Chronicle to get any reaction from the police.”
Turner was previously investigated in 2009 by Merseyside Police over similar matters.
