Landmark day for Salvation Army
Date published: 27 September 2011
A LANDMARK birthday celebration was in store for members of the Salvation Army’s Roundthorn branch.
Oldham Mayor, Councillor Richard Knowles, visited the branch to mark its 125 years in the borough.
Musical entertainment from the Roundthron Band and the Songster Brigade got the anniversary celebrations off to a swinging start before a special morning worship.
The Roundthorn Corps continues to help local people with food parcels and toys at Christmas as well as providing a community space and holding a parent and toddler group.
Anyone who would like to volunteer should call lieutenants Ian and Wendy Hall on 0161-624 6550.
