Footie festival to go with a bang!

LATICS have launched a children’s poster competition as part of their plans to take part in a nationwide Family Football Festival.
The posters — to promote the firework safety code — can be drawn, painted or produced on a computer screen.
And the winners of two categories — aged 11 and under and 12-16 — will see their entry framed, used in the club’s matchday programme and their family win a corporate day for four at the Festival game against Wycombe Wanderers on Saturday, October 22.
Chief executive Alan Hardy said: “We are delighted to team up with the Chronicle to see if we can bring out the artistic talents of the young Latics fans.
“Families and football go together well and we are keen to entice more families to come to games. There will be a special family ticket of £30 for two adults and two children to the Family Football Festival game.
Other attractions on the festival day are in the pipeline and these are certain to include a fancy-dress parade, with prizes, for fans that come dressed up in either Hallowe’en or bonfire night outfits.
“It will be a great atmosphere if we can get lots of people dressed up on the festival day and we are hoping to have lots of events and surprises for the fans,” added Mr Hardy.
Young artists need to get working on their poster ideas as the deadline for entries is Friday, October 14 — with entries produced on an A4 sheet. The poster needs to promote the bullet points of the firework safety code which can be found at www.safe4autumn.com/fireworks-safety.aspx
An independent judging panel will decide the winners and they will be invited to the Wycombe game with four Gold hospitality match tickets that include a four-course silver service meal with tea/coffee plus wine, executive box seating, car park passes, match programme, team sheet, complimentary bar, competitions, player visits. They will also receive their framed poster on the pitch at half-time.
