CELEBRITIES have added some glamorous backing to Christie’s Month — one of the region’s biggest fundraising events.
Throughout October, the Christie charity is encouraging people to get creative and organise their own event such as balloon races, cake sales and karaoke nights to raise money for the leading cancer centre.
Coronation Street actress Michelle Keegan, who plays Tina McIntyre, and former Corrie siren Tina O’Brien, who played Sarah-Louise Platt, have been quick to give their support.
Michelle, whose grandmother was treated at the hospital before she died in 2009, said: “The Christie has a very special place in my heart as my grandma was treated there. The care she received was amazing and this is why I am encouraging everyone to get fundraising this October.
On Saturday, October 15 there will be bucket collections on streets across the North-West, and Manchester Piccadilly and Manchester Victoria train stations.
Visit www.christiesmonth.org to download ideas, posters, invites, sponsor forms and more to help the fundraising.
