POLICE have issued a photograph of a man who absconded while on bail.

Muhammed Shahzad (39), of Jepheys Street, Rochdale, was arrested on suspicion of rape on April 1 but absconded while on police bail on June 16.

Officers have since made a large number of inquiries and are now appealing for the public’s help.

It’s believed he could be in Rochdale, Oldham or further afield.

Mr Shahzad’s arrest was in connection with an investigation into the sexual exploitation of children in Rochdale. Eleven other men have been charged in connection with the inquiry and are due to stand trial in February.

Det Insp Mike Sanderson, who is leading the investigation, said: “We have released a photograph of Muhammed Shahzad in an effort to help trace him.

“He was arrested in connection with an extremely serious offence so it is vitally important you call us if you know where Muhammed is.”
