Help good cause to win £6,000 grant

Date published: 10 October 2011

A HANDFUL of groups aiming to make a difference in their community are in the running to bag a £6,000 grant.

Several organisations from across the borough are vying to win a cash boost as part of the NatWest Community Force competition.

Oldham Mountain Rescue is one of the groups through to the final stage of the competition in which locals can cast their vote online.

The three groups with the most votes in each geographical area will each be given a £6,000 prize.

The Saddleworth-based mountain-rescue group is hoping it will be their lucky day and voters will get behind them as the cash would pay for the rent of a garage and storage unit in Greenfield.

Other worthy causes vying for your votes in the borough include Dr Kershaw’s Hospice, the Limeside Friends of the Park group, the People’s Carnival and the Middleton and Chadderton Sea Cadets.

Groundwork Oldham and Rochdale, the Oldham Society for the Blind and the Fitton Hill and Hathershaw Bulldogs are also in with a chance of winning.
