ROYAL Oldham Hospital’s League of Friends has set itself a new target: to raise £40,000 in a year, to replace the “Royal Rover”.
The regally-named minibus is the latest goal for the fundraisers who make life easier for patients, staff and visitors to the hospital. The Royal Rover ferries people around the sprawling hospital site.
The bus only just scraped through its last MOT and the 21-strong league wants to hit its target and have the new wheels on the road before it is due again.
The fundraisers already have £10,500 — and hope Chronicle readers will help the fund.
League chairman Rose Hall said: “The Royal Rover is essential; it helps both patients and visitors get around the grounds. We need £29,500 to complete the appeal — and volunteers; at the moment we need drivers and assistants for the minibus.”
Contact Mary on 604 5892, or support the appeal by sending a cheque payable to The ROH League of Friends (RR) to The League of Friends, c/o The Royal Oldham Hospital, Rochdale Road, Oldham, OL1 2JH
