Spindles in bid to woo shoppers
Date published: 11 October 2011
OLDHAM’S main shopping complex has added its weight to the bid to attract more shoppers to the town in the run-up to Christmas.
Spindles-Town Square is to launch a series of free and cut-price parking offers in its multi-storey parking areas — beginning on the traditional curtain-raiser for Christmas in the town (the Reindeer parade on November 12) and running all the way through to the end of January, 2012.
Centre mManager Mike Flanagan said: “We have been looking at how best we can help Oldham retailers in these tough times and we think the offers we have come up with will make a real difference.
“This is about Oldham people supporting Oldham businesses and the free and cut-price parking allows Oldham to compete with several other towns that have similar offers in place.
“The spread of parking offers to include late-night Thursdays as well as Saturdays and Sundays should give everyone the chance to take advantage and shop in Oldham.
“Sundays are often vital for people who cannot get to shop on Saturdays and we hope that the late-night Thursdays will appeal to parents to visit free of charge after the school run.”
