Regeneration starts with rebranding
HOLLINWOOD looks set to be rebranded and revamped in a bid to boost its fortunes and attract big business.
The Oldham Chronicle revealed plans in June to bring a cinema back to the site of the former Roxy picture house in Oldham Road.
This was part of a scheme to regenerate four sites in Hollinwood — in Albert Street, Roman Road and Mersey Road North, and a site in Pump Street — and create a new employment, leisure and retail opportunity.
Now brand and marketing consultants, as well as architects, lettings and sales agents, are on board and ready to start the transformation.
Oldham Council’s development partner Langtree will devise a masterplan with design consultants Taylor Young.
Agents WHR and Colliers International will help identify key investment areas on the former mill sites.
Run Creative, a graphic design agency based in Wilmslow, has been appointed to brand Hollinwood.
John Downes, Langtree managing director, said: “We are committed to regenerating Hollinwood and creating a significant investment site that will transform the social and economic fortunes of the area.
“We’re looking forward to evolving our plans for the site and delivering a very desirable scheme that we believe will be of significant interest to the market.”
Oldham Council leader, Councillor Jim McMahon, said: “I’m delighted Langtree has moved quickly to confirm the appointment of architects, lettings and sales agents, plus brand and marketing consultants, to move things forward.
“I am now looking forward to receiving the marketing proposals and also being consulted when architects have concluded their work to draw up the masterplan.
“The redevelopment of these sites — and Metrolink’s arrival — will not only give Hollinwood back its strong identity but could also create a destination of regional significance.”
