AN OLDHAM charity has organised a fundraising dinner as part of a push to raise its profile and bring in new members.
Oldham Society for Blind & Partially Sighted People has existed in various forms since 1878 but is now based at the Link Centre, in Union Street, within the sensory disability service department.
The society provides opportunities for people living with a visual impairment in Oldham to meet up in both formal and informal settings.
However, plans are in place to develop the charity and it has now launched a programme to become more well known and bring in more funds.
The charity is hosting a fundraising sportsman’s dinner tomorrow at St. Anne’s ARLFC on Higginshaw Road, 7pm. Special guest will be Barrie McDermott, former Great Britain, Leeds, Wigan prop forward and current Sky Sports pundit.
Also in attendance will be MC Michael “Braddy” Bradshaw and comedian Barry York.
As well as a three-course dinner, there will be an auction of various sporting items along with a raffle, and tickets are priced £25.
