Parish draws its boundary proposals
Date published: 17 October 2011
Saddleworth Parish councillors are hoping for success after presenting their constituency proposals to the Boundary Commission.
Councillor Bill Cullen and Mike Buckley gave their idea of a South Pennine Township constituency to officers as a potential plan for when constituency boundaries are redrawn.
Plans are to reduce the number of MPs from 650 to 600.
The new constituency would take in Milnrow, Littleborough, Mossley and Stalybridge as well as the current Saddleworth wards.
Councillor Bill Cullen, parish chair, said: “Our proposals appeared to go down well, we were asked for copies of the proposals by several parties present.”
The next step for the parish council will be to make a formal submission of the proposals.
