AN award-winning Oldham dance troupe which blew away the competition at a national championship still faces an uncertain future.
Hollinwood based Colletes Dance Troupe, which caters for 80 dancers aged one to 37, bagged four awards at the end of season championships in Wales last month.
Anne Melia, troupe principal, said: “I am so proud of the dancers and everything they have achieved. We just blew away the competition. It was one of our most successful events ever.” The awards included troupe of the year. But the group is still facing the threat of closure after failing to find a sponsor to finance its activities. “We are still short of money. It would be fantastic to find a sponsor to help us get through our 50th year.
“We need somewhere in the region of £5,000 in sponsorship from local businesses. We can advertise the sponsors details on our bus up and down the country.”
The group was turned down for a Lottery grant and receives no funding from Oldham Council. If anyone can help, call 07903263535.
