A POLICE raid on a house following a tip-off uncovered 53 packs of bangers and six packets of rockets.
A 15-year-old boy was cautioned for possession of the illegal fireworks after officers executed a warrant at a Failsworth property last week.
The seized fireworks, bought from a market trader in Newton Heath, have been banned since 1997 because they are potentially unsafe.
Sgt Kam Hare, from Failsworth and Hollinwood Neighbourhood Policing Team, believes the discovery has prevented a number of firework-related incidents which could have led to serious injury.
Police, Oldham Council and Trading Standards have warned they will they will come down hard on those who sell fireworks to under 18s.
Under 18s can face an £80 fine if found in possession of a firework.
