Chelsee says ‘I do’ at popular hall

A ‘STRICTLY’ secret celebrity marriage has endorsed Chadderton Town Hall’s reputation as a wedding venue.

Actress and “Strictly Come Dancing” star Chelsee Healey waltzed down the aisle at the town hall only weeks after the Chronicle reported it was the top wedding venue in the borough.

But it wasn’t all it seemed: Chelsee was filming her “Waterloo Road” character Janeece Bryant’s marriage for the next series of the hit BBC show set in a comprehensive school.

Janeece originally hit TV screens in 2006 as the straight-talking, cheeky schoolgirl who left “Waterloo Road” only to return as the new school secretary in series five.

Though the storyline is a closely-guarded secret, a BBC spokeswoman said it is “happy ever after” for Janeece and her wedding will be shown after Christmas.

“Chadderton Town Hall was chosen because it’s a lovely-looking venue,” said the spokeswoman.

“The staff there have been fantastic and really easy to work with. There’s been lots of filming inside and outside.”

In September the Chronicle revealed how the building’s historic architecture and grand interior has helped make the town hall the venue of choice for over 1,100 couples tying the knot since 2007.
