Crime falls to 11-year low

CRIME in Greater Manchester has plummeted, new figures show.
Home Office statistics show total crime fell by 7.4 per cent between July, 2010 and June, 2011 — equating to nearly 18,000 fewer victims.
The statistics show:
::Incidents of crime fell from 239,126 to 221,363.
::1,513 fewer victims of domestic burglary (17,629 crimes compared with 19,142 last year).
::935 fewer victims of robbery (4,708 from 5,643).
::6,908 fewer victims of crimes against vehicles (24,640 from 31,548).
::6,746 fewer victims of criminal damage (38,552 from 45,298).
::2,765 fewer victims of violence against the person (41,616 from 38,851).
::53 fewer victims of sexual offences (2,819 from 2,872).
