TOP DESIGNS James Bowker and Jessica Smith receive their framed posters from Latics Chief Executive Alan Hardy and Chronicle Editor David Whaley — with Chaddy the Owl looking on.
CHADDY the Owl had the last laugh after losing a zorbing race to his Wycombe Wanderers counterpart at the Latics family football festival.
The Latics mascot lost the half-time race across the Boundary Park pitch in giant inflatable balls but he was soaring by the final whistle as Latics came out 2-0 winners.
The race, which also included the Nando’s chicken, was all part of the fun as families enjoyed some improved weather of late, to take part a climbing wall, face painting, a snooker contest and were entertained by a samba band.
Around 30 youngsters also took part in a Hallowe’en fancy dress contest while others got the chance to sit in a fire engine.
And the winners of a fire safety poster competition were presented with their awards on the pitch.
Oldhamer James Bowker, who was celebrating his 12th birthday at the game and Jessica Smith (8) from Royton won VIP treatment for their families at the match and also received a framed image of their winning entry.
