Join in the Santa Stroll
Date published: 27 October 2011
THE hunt is on for Santas big and small to join a festive procession around the streets of Royton.
The Santa Stroll is being hosted by Dr Kershaw’s Hospice on Sunday, December 11. It starts at 11am and will culminate with a family fun day in the hospice grounds in Turf Lane, Royton.
Participants can tackle the circular 1.4 mile route through Salmon Fields, Higginshaw Lane and Turf Lane at whatever pace they want.
From a casual stroll to a brisk walk or a run, everyone is welcome to join in.
Children will complete one lap, while adults are being asked to tackle three laps.
Walkers will return to the hospice for some festive fun with mulled wine, hot chocolate and Christmas carols sung by Kadria Thomas and “Soul Inspiration” and music from Dobcross Youth Band.
The real Santa will also be there, giving out gifts to children, and everyone who takes part will be able to take home the Santa suit they wear during the stroll.
Entry costs £12 for adults, £6 for children, which includes the cost of a Santa suit, a medal, mince pies and refreshments.
Proceeds go to Dr Kershaw’s. Contact the appeals office on 0161-624 9984 to enter or for more details.
