WALKING the plank: youngsters at the nursery join in a “Children in Need” stunt with the BBC.
DAY-nursery owner Angela Kirkham received a special thank you from her pal Pudsey after 35 years of supporting the BBC’s “Children in Need” appeal.
A BBC crew filmed her latest fund-raising feat at Victoria Brook Day Nursery, in Chadderton, to highlight Angela’s amazing contribution to the cause.
Tots and toddlers walking the plank will be televised on “Children in Need” next month.
This was the latest in a long line of Angela’s spectacular sponsored stunts which include a mini grand prix, parachute jumping and the nursery’s version of TV shows “Ready, Steady Cook” and “Strictly Come Dancing”.
Amgela said: “When they said they were coming here to film I was really chuffed.
“The staff and I always give 110 per cent to ‘Children in Need’. We don’t ask the parents to give to anything else through the year but this is the highlight and it’s good for the children to understand about giving to those less fortunate than themselves.”
The nursery raises around £1,000 a year but Angela first became involved with “Children in Need” when she volunteered to help answer the donation hotlines for the BBC when the event was launched in the 1980s. She was also rewarded for her staunch support earlier this year when she was invited to the BBC studios in London for lunch with Pudsey and a studio tour.
