Wear it loud and proud for breast cancer fundraiser
OLDHAMERS are being encouraged to think pink to help beat breast cancer.
“X-Factor” star Stacey Solomon will join thousands of people all over the UK who will be taking part in Breast Cancer Care Campaign’s biggest, pinkest fundraising event — Wear It Pink — tomorrow.
Businesses, schools, colleges, and individuals throughout the country are being encouraged to wear pink and donate £2 each to fund the campaign’s innovative research.
Last year, a staggering £2.4 million was raised to help improve survival rates for the 48,000 people being diagnosed annually.
Stacey, the Wear It Pink ambassador, said: “Beating breast cancer is a cause really close to my heart as when my auntie was diagnosed it affected our whole family.
“It’s easy to get involved, just wear pink at work or at school, dress up in pink on a night out or even throw your own pink party!
“With one in eight women diagnosed in their lifetime, we all have a reason to wear it pink and be part of the cure.”
Ahead of the official Wear It Pink day tomorrow, people in Oldham have already been donning their pink outfits to raise money for cancer charities — from students to school pupils and an annual pink party in Saddleworth. Visit www.wearitpink.co.uk or call 0800-107 3104 to register now.
