IT was a case of heave-ho’ for soldiers from the Territorial Army 202 Field Squadron who put their back into a fund-raising truck pull on Saturday.
Soldiers took the slack of two ropes tied to the front of the 16 tonne truck to take part in the pull from the Queen Elizabeth Hall in Oldham to Manchester, and were waved off by Mayor of Oldham, Councillor Richard Knowles, the Mayoress, Mrs Valerie Knowles and youth mayor Charlotte Birtwistle.
The muscle-bound volunteers carried buckets along the way and collected funds from passerbys as they completed their heavyweight task.
All the money raised will be shared between the Army Benevolent Fund, the Rainbow Family Trust, and the Euxton War Memorial Fund.
