Brothers pay price for dumped rubbish

Waste dumped at Failsworth
TWO brothers responsible for waste dumped on a section of Metrolink line in Failsworth have been prosecuted.
Contractors MPT, building the tram line extension, contacted Oldham Council after a substantial amount of rubbish was tipped onto the line near Mill Street. MPT had to pay £800 to dispose of the waste.
Enforcement Officers investigated and found evidence to link the rubbish to an off-licence in Wythenshawe run by Waqar Hussain (29), of Beresford Street, Manchester, and Kaiser Hussain (21), of Mauldeth Road West, Manchester.
The brothers had employed an unlicensed waste carrier to remove the rubbish.
Kaiser was convicted at Oldham Magistrates’ Court of failing in a duty of care under the Environmental Protection Act 1990. He was fined £135 with £575 costs and a £15 victim surcharge.
Waqar was fined £175 with £575 costs and surcharge awarded to the council.
