Five generations of the Ratchford family
A CHADDERTON family have welcomed a new addition who has boosted their brood to five generations.
Little Lois Mae Stott was born at home and no one was more pleased to greet her than her great-great-grandmother Jane Gouldbourn.
The independent 90-year-old lives next door to her daughter Carol Royle (72), in Firwood Park, Chadderton.
Carol’s daughter Yvonne Ratchford (50) lives in Royton, while her daughter and Lois’s mum, Jane Stott (26), lives in Moorside.
But the close-knit family have been brought even closer together thanks to the special bond created by the arrival of Lois on July 17.
Mrs Royle said: “It’s absolutely fantastic having a baby in the family again. We’ve all been fussing over Lois and she is just starting to laugh which is wonderful.
“My mum was born in 1921 and is very independent, but loves the new addition to our family. We’re all chuffed to bits with Lois.
“To have five generations in one family is an amazing thing.”
