Witness appeal after driver is robbed

POLICE are appealing for the public’s help in a bid to trace a violent robber who stole a 38-year-old woman’s business takings while she sat in her car.
The drama unfolded in the Tesco Express car park on Ashton Road at about 12.30pm on September 26.
The woman had parked up outside the garage in a black Ford Focus while her husband went inside the shop.
A few seconds later, the nearside door was opened and a man tried to grab a bag containing her hotel’s takings.
When she refused, the thug punched the woman several times on her arms until she let go.
He then ran with the cash towards Ashton Road and got into a blue Mazda, which drove off at speed. He is described as white, in his mid-20s, about 5ft 8in tall, of slim build and with short, dark hair. He was wearing a T-shirt and jacket.
Detective constable Simon Moyles, of Oldham CID, said: “It has been over a month since this woman was robbed in her own car.
“Since then, we have pursued a number of lines of inquiry but we still need the public’s help to trace not just the thief but also all those in the getaway car so we can bring them to justice and at least give the woman some peace of mind. I want to appeal to anyone who might have seen the blue Mazda being driven along Ashton Road at high speed.
“Did you manage to get a partial registration number?
“Did you see it parked up or perhaps the offender getting into the car?”
Anyone with information should call police on 0161-872 5050 or Crimestoppers, anonymously, on 0800-555 111.
