TWO of the borough’s district town halls are now open for business as the new co-operative council swings into action.
Staff will be based at the heart of communities as part of the shift that aims to bring a wider range of services to the doorsteps of residents.
Locals are now able to access services at the Chadderton Health and Wellbeing Centre and in Failsworth at the recently-restored Failsworth Town Hall.
Royton Town Hall will be the location of the district hub which will represent Royton, Shaw and Crompton and is set to open later this month.
While the opening of centres for Saddleworth and Lees (Uppermill Library), Oldham West (Fitton Hill Neighbourhood Centre) and Oldham East (Holt Street Housing Office) will follow.
Councillor Jean Stretton said: “We know the best local services are those that have been developed with — and shaped by — the needs of local people.
“The new town halls will provide greater opportunities for residents to play active roles by helping to shape how services are delivered.”
Services will include Street Scene, Waste Management and Highways teams and Parks and Open Spaces teams.
The new teams can be spotted across the borough in the re-branded “Working With You In...” vehicles.
The new telephone numbers for each district are:
Royton, Shaw & Crompton: 0161-770-7011.
Failsworth & Hollinwood: 0161-770-7022.
Chadderton: 0161-770-7033.
