Mum left tots home alone

A MOTHER left her two children home alone in disgusting conditions while she went on a boozy weekend binge with pals.
Police found her 18-month-old toddler and three-year-old at the house after being alerted by neighbours.
Officers went to the house after the three-year-old shouted through the letterbox to the neighbours saying ‘mummy’s not here’.
The younger child was crying and covered in faeces while the three-year-old appeared to have been searching for food as a chair was pushed against the kitchen work surface.
Judge Peter Lakin told the mother, who cannot be named for legal reasons: “I hope you are thoroughly ashamed of yourself. You prioritised your personal social life over the welfare of your young children.”
The mum (23) pleaded guilty to two charges of child neglect.
Lisa Boocock, prosecuting, told Manchester’s Minshull Street Crown Court: “Officers described being overwhelmed by the rancid stench.”
Both children were taken to see a doctor and then placed with social services. It is now believed the youngsters are being cared for by their father.
The mum sobbed in the dock as she was sentenced to six months imprisonment, suspended for two years. She was told to reside at a specific address for the next three months and given an 18-month supervision order.
