EIGHT people have been charged with drug offences following police raids across Oldham.

They were among 14 people arrested on November 3 as part of Operation Rescind to crackdown on drug-dealing in the borough.

More than 100 officers from Greater Manchester Police stormed 10 addresses just after 6am in response to community concerns over drug-dealing which they say is fuelling crime and anti-social behaviour. Properties were targeted in Hathershaw, Westwood, Fitton Hill and Saddleworth.

James Badby (18), of Keswick Avenue, Hathershaw, has been charged with supplying class A drugs, possession with intent to supply class A drugs and possessing a firearm when prohibited.

Abdul Samad Gani (23), of Westbourne Street, North Moor, has been charged with four counts of supplying class A drugs, two counts of possession with intent to supply class A drugs, possession of cannabis and two counts of money laundering.

Mohammed Ahmed (20), of Broome Street, Werneth, has been charged with 11 counts of supplying class A drugs and attempting to supply class A drugs.

Mohammed Hanif (54), of Broadway Street, Hathershaw, has been charged with four counts of supplying class A drugs and two counts of possession with intent to supply class A drugs.

Faisal Hanif (22), of Broadway Street, Hathershaw, has been charged with nine counts of supplying class A drugs.

Adeel Hanif (23), of Broadway Street, Hathershaw, has been charged with supplying class A drugs and two counts of being concerned in the supply of class A drugs.

Rita O’Connor (44), of Lido House, Grotton, has been charged with supplying class A drugs.

Del Robert Jennings (43), of Kennedy Street, Coppice, has been charged with four counts of supplying class A drugs.

Five other people arrested on suspicion of drugs offences during the raids, aged from 21 to 48, have been bailed, pending further inquiries. The 14th person arrested has been released without charge.

It was the third in a series of operations. Previous raids saw 16 addresses targeted in March and 15 in July, after months of investigation into the distribution of heroin and crack cocaine.
