BACK in business: Husteads Stables owner Judith Liversidge (left) and volunteer Megan Lockwood with new addition Phoenix Pinto
A RIDING stable has risen from the ashes of a major fire with the help of neighbours and wellwishers.
The owner of Husteads Riding School in Dobcross and her nighbours saved eight horses from the burning buildings in the nick of time.
Firefighters took two days to defeat the blaze, which engulfed the stables in Streetbridge Lane.
But business is now getting back to normal.
Judith (53) said: “We would have not recovered if it wasn’t for the amazing help from the community.
“We were not insured and all financial support has come from contributions and our savings. We have 24 horses and one donkey who live here and a new mare has arrived, giving us another boost.”
The stables has now passed an annual inspection to keep running as a school.
Judith jept a record of everyone who helped her - and has now invited them to a thank-you party
