The exhibition, which features works selected by prominent figures from the art world, showcases 611 works of print, painting, drawing, sculpture and photography.

John, (56) who teaches part-time at the Manchester school of fine art and who works from a studio at his home in Diggle, said: “It’s really good to get chosen for an exhibition, particularly one that has a lot of visitors. It’s good to get images of Diggle into London and give it prominence.”

Inspired by everyday things and the landscape in and around Saddleworth he loves to “walk around a lot”.

“I have always walked everywhere with my dog,” he added.

John work has featured at the Royal Academy of Art in London and his paintings sell for £1,000-£2,500.

“I work on them every day but the amount of time varies. When doing a drawing I can become completely engrossed. Once I start I can’t stop.”
