How tickled I am to appear at Coliseum
Date published: 17 November 2011
LEGENDARY funnyman Ken Dodd will be bringing the house down at the Coliseum — before the theatre closes for refurbishment.
The Squire of Knotty Ash will be the final act on Sunday, January 15, 2012, before the theatre’s temporary closure for repairs.
Until next autumn, the Fairbottom Street company will produce shows at different venues around Oldham. Full details of the theatre’s plans for 2012 will be revealed at a season launch on December 12.
The temporary closure is to allow essential work on the heating system and other services. As part of the renovation project the Coliseum also plans to reseat the entire auditorium.
In July, the theatre launched a 125th anniversary appeal, asking patrons to donate money for new seats: £250 will provide one new seat, for which the donor receives a personally inscribed plaque on the seat.
Tickets for Ken Dodd are £19.50 and £17.50 from the box office on 0161-624 2829 or at www.coliseum.org.uk .
