Teen does a runner from court
Date published: 18 November 2011
A POLICE hunt is on for a teenager who escaped from Oldham Magistrates’ Court after he was sentenced to eight weeks in prison.
James Badby (18), of Keswick Avenue, Hathershaw, had just been told of his punishment for burglary, taking a vehicle without the owner’s consent and having no insurance at noon on Wednesday.
He was also disqualified from driving for six months, but before he could be taken to the cells, Badby pushed passed security staff and ran from the building.
He is white, about 5ft 5in tall, of slim build, short brown hair and prominent ears. When last seen he was wearing a black Adidas tracksuit with white stripes.
Supt Cath Hankinson said: “We think he is likely to be in the Oldham area and we know he is well known, particularly among the criminal fraternity.
“There are sound legal reasons why we can’t give out his photograph at this stage, but we are confident that people who know Badby can tell us where he is.”
Anyone who knows of Badby’s whereabouts should call 0161-856 8952 or Crimestoppers, anonymously, on 0800 555 111.
