Double success for road safety campaign

AN Oldham campaign has scooped a national award.
The team behind Every Life Matters were all smiles as their names were read out at the presentation ceremony in London.
They claimed victory in the “Stay Safe” category and were highly commended in the Volunteering and Participation category, at the Children and Young People Now Awards.
The team, made up of members of Oldham’s Youth Council, was thrilled to scoop the awards ahead of more than 400 other entries. The campaign was set up after the death of 15-year-old Chris Dale, who died in a car accident in Salem in 2009.
His sister Becca Dale said: “We were just really excited to be nominated, so to walk away having won was brilliant for us.”
The team, which has also been nominated for a Pride In Oldham award, now plans to focus on fundraising so it can continue to tour the play “Split Second” around Oldham sixth forms in 2012.
