Date published: 25 November 2011
A 75-YEAR-OLD woman managed to escape from her burning bedroom in Mossley after being alerted by a smoke alarm recently fitted by fire-fighters.
Three fire crews were called to an 18th century farmhouse in Lees Road, at 11.45am yesterday. The woman, who was taken to hospital as a precaution after suffering the effects of smoke inhalation, believed there may have been a fault with a heater. The cause of the fire is still under investigation.
Anyone who wants a smoke alarm fitted can contact 0800-555 815.
