HEAR ye! Hear ye! This be the day to wear the red rose with pride.
Chadderton Town Crier Reg Lord donned his magnificent robes to celebrate Lancashire Day on Sunday and proclaim his love for the county to all.
Shoppers at Asda in Chadderton heard his booming call as he read out the Lancashire proclamation among the aisles, before he headed to the steps of the district’s town hall.
The date remembers the day in 1295 when King Edward 1 summoned Lancashire’s first elected representative to parliament in Westminster.
Reg added: “Many people in Lancashire are proud to be part of a region that goes way, way back into history.”
