David earns his stripes with safety idea

CROMPTON Primary School pupil David Howard can see his winning idea in black and white.
The Year Three pupil suggested laying a new zebra crossing at the Longfield Road Primary School using funds raised from a competition — and was on hand to apply the finishing touches of paint.
The Shaw school had taken part in a Proscore Challenge, with each child shooting a ball into targets within a huge inflatable goal for charity. The £1,500 raised by sponsorship was shared between the school and the charity Action for Children. The School Council selected David’s idea for spending the school’s share.
