DETECTIVES are trying to piece together the final hours of a former Oldham College student whose body was found at Hollingworth Lake.

They have appealed for anyone who might have seen Chamman Nisa Shah (21) prior to the discovery to get in touch. Police were called to the Rochdale lake shortly before 7.45pm on Saturday following reports of a body at the waters shore.

Detectives are keen to speak to anyone who saw or spoke to Chamman at any time from about 4pm that day, when it is believed she left the family home in Littleborough, to the time she was found by dog walkers. It is believed she was driving a red Toyota Corolla, which was found parked in the disabled car park overlooking the lake. Chamman is described as Asian, 5ft tall, and of slim build.

Det-Insp Melani Linton, said: “Chamman’s family and friends as well as the wider community are understandably upset by what has happened. We are fully investigating the circumstances surrounding her death. There are a number of detectives piecing together the details and as is normal in these enquiries I am keeping an open mind as to what has taken place.”

Police say there is a window of around four hours for which Chamman’s movements are not fully accounted for. They are keen to hear from anyone who saw or spoke to her on Saturday afternoon and early evening, or saw her car, a red Toyota Corolla. Call police on 0161-856 4644, or Crimestoppers, anonymously, on 0800-555 111.
