A 27-YEAR-OLD man suffered a serious eye injury after being attacked in Oldham town centre.

As reported in the Chronicle last week, police were called to Yorkshire Street just after 10.15pm on Tuesday, November 22, following reports that a man had suffered stab wounds to his face.

The victim was taken to the Royal Oldham Hospital for treatment to a fractured eye socket and damage to his eye. He is due to undergo further tests at Manchester Eye Hospital to establish if his eyesight will be permanently affected.

DC Mike Patterson, of Oldham CD, said: “The victim’s eyesight and future quality of life now hangs in the balance — all for the sake of a moment of violence. We understand that the incident may have started from or near the Number 15 pub. We would urge any witnesses to this attack to call the police.”

Anyone with information is asked to call police on 0161-856 8951 or Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.
