A brewery worker has conquered the gruelling streets of the Big Apple.
JW Lees employee Paul Collinge took part in the New York Marathon to raise money for Mahdlo — Oldham’s new youth centre. He completed the race in three hours and 37 minutes and raised £800.
Paul, who has been running for over 30 years, said: “It was very hard but fantastic. “The views along the way were superb, truly a once-in-a-lifetime experience. To raise money for such a worthwhile cause is the icing on the cake.”
Delighted Helen Taylor, Mahdlo chief executive, said: “A huge thanks to Paul for his efforts on behalf of Mahdlo. He has really got behind Mahdlo and is helping to make it a great success. His really is a fantastic achievement.”
The £5million youth centre is under construction on the site of the former Marjorie Lees Health Centre, Egerton Street, and wants to hear from anyone else keen to raise money in unusual ways on its behalf. Email claire.crossfield@mahdloyz.org or call 0161-621 9322 for information.
