Healthcare on the move
Date published: 08 December 2011
OLDHAM Council is relocating vital services for people with short-term mental-health problems.
Specialist mental-health assessment and rehabilitative support is currently offered in Mayall Street, Clarksfield. But the premises have long been considered unfit due to their age and location.
The service will be moved to High Barn, Royton — an existing 10-bed facility currently used for short-term patients.
Council chiefs say the change is beneficial to patients’ rehabilitation due to its central base in Royton, close to other support networks plus local amenities and shops. It also offers potential capacity to offer services to neighbouring authorities.
